Ashok is the lead analytics engineer at Ticketfly, a live music social marketing, ticket sales and analytics startup in San Francisco. He was an applied researcher with the search science team at eBay till August 2011, where he worked on various aspects of search query processing, including query rewriting and efficient spell checking. Ashok has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the North Carolina State University, where Munindar Singh was his advisor. He was formerly involved in architecting a state-of-the-art service delivery and execution platform at Veraz Networks in San Jose.

Ashok has authored several peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conferences relating to Multiagent systems, Software engineering, Web Services, and Business Process automation and management, including papers in The IEEE Internet Computing Magazine, The IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, and at OOPSLA. Ashok has served as co-chair of the IEEE FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) working group on Agent and Web Service Interaction.

In the distant past, Ashok interned with IBM, developing Web Service components for the SmallTalk Server Group in Raleigh, NC, with Glaxo Smithkline, data mining for the Chemoinformatics Group in Durham, NC, and with Texas Instruments, way back in 1999, automating software development processes for the Raster Image Processing Group at the Texas Instruments Asia Development Center in Bangalore.
